Hi, My name is Su and I’m a illustrator and a comic enthusiast. My style consists a lot of abstract and poetic narrative that express a sense of anxiousness. My practice at Emily Carr in the past few years includes comic, illustration, and installation art. However, as for now I’d like to focus more on my practice on comic since it’s so much fun. I feel like this project Lost In Translation is a great example of all my practice in a nutshell. Thanks for stopping by and strap in for some silly, experimental drawings!

An Abstract Comic Book By Yisu Li
Lost In Translation is a series of exploration about anxiety and dissociated experience in mundane with abstract narrative and experimental illustrations/drawings. It’s a hand made hard cover accordion book with all the images done digitally. The story is a hero’s journey about a non-hero who goes on non-adventure such as going on public transit, wondering on the streets, etc. The book emphasizes on the overwhelming and quiet experience of travelling in between city scapes and empty spaces that all of us encounter daily.
