A Story of Mismanagement
Wrong grip is about our frameworks of thinking. In order to hold something, you must be considerate, attentive, and respectful. It means being aware of dimension, pressure, gravity, and intent simultaneously. At times the texture will be uncomfortable and friction may build between the holder and what is being held, yet this discomfort provides a new opportunity for change and compromise.
Clearly the hands on the wall are not gripping the fruit and flowers correctly. They are crushed and falling, either gripped too strongly or loosely, and entirely misunderstood.
There is also a bowl of fruit beside Wrong Grip, so that people can interact and connect to the work by exploring the complexity of the fruit for themselves. The fruits in the bowl are made out of crayon (and function as crayons) so there are new textures, weight, and uses to discover.
