Artist Statement.
As aspiring modelers, we are highly interested in character art and design for games. We both grew up with various games, and the characters we play with have a special place in our hearts. Through producing ULTI, we are revisiting our exciting memories selecting heroes to enter into the virtual game battles. Our film explores Japanese retro game style, and inspired by cyberpunk color palettes. Crafting a collection of eight heroes in total, we wish to show our passion for game art and the ways characters can spark excitement and immerse us into the game world.
Film Music + Sound.
The soundtrack is inspired by Japanese 80s City-Pop genre, Future Funk genre, and Lofi genre. Mixed with battle-game style intro music and sound effects.

About the Filmmakers
Cherry Hou
Cherry is a Taiwanese-Canadian aspiring 3D modelling artist. She finds magic in bringing characters and props to life in the 3D world. Cherry enjoys stylized and cartoony artstyles, her interest in manga / anime aesthetics often inspires her 3D works. She is looking forward to a career in 3D modeling after graduating Emily Carr University of Art + Design

Joanne Lee
Joanne Lee is Korean Canadian who always had passion in animation area. Her journey in art began with a spark of curiosity in animation when she was playing games in her childhood. She studied 3D Computer animation at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. In the middle of her 3D studies, she started getting interested in modeling, and she dreams of a career in 3D modeling.
